Historical guide to the current (open) pubs of St Andrews.

The book is in 3 parts - one for the Historical Town Centre, which accounts for most of the town s pubs, the 2nd is for pubs around The Scores and The Links (where golf takes place), and 3rd is 'Further Afield' where less than 6 pubs are situated.

Although taverns started with the growth of the St Andrew religous centre, further growth came with the founding of the University. The Reformation stopped that and the town declined but fortunately the popularity of golf and associated demand for drinking, eating and accomodation facilities increased the pub situation.
The bulk of the taverns and pubs are situated in the historical medieval centre.

The pub descriptions are well supported by photos and include relevant historical information.

Good map showing the location of the pubs described in the book (see the density in the medieval centre).
