"100 years of alcohol advertising" is the book's sub-title. It describes and illustrates the advertising in Britain of drinks ranging from beer to champagne, including wine, whisky, rum, gin, liqueurs and other spirits. The subject is looked at in chronological order in 8 chapters from the early 1900s to the 1990s. Although the drink coverage is wide ranging, beer including "lager" and Guinness get good coverage as does whisky too. The book is very well illustrated with enlightening comment on the changing nature and origin of the advertising and will appeal to both the student of advertising and drink and to the beer historian.
